A bit about me
I am a nurse (people variety) in England. Whilst holidaying in Rhodes in , I was appalled by the number of stray cats and dogs on the island – often sick, injured, no one appeared to care. I spent my holiday very upset about this. On day 5 of our week holiday, we went to Rhodes Town. Here we stumbled upon a stall where there was Heidi (a volunteer at RAWS) promoting the charity and collecting donations. I explained how sad I felt for the animals of Rhodes and she stated that the stray population is huge, with only a handful of people attempting the ‘Neuter and Release’ scheme whilst caring for cats/ dogs of the shelter
.
The following day, I visited RAWS and helped out with feeding and caring for the animals. I left promising to return the following year, which I did and have been returning at least once a year since .
However, I am more of a cat person and jumped at the chance to help these poor guys at Kalithea.
